The Indianapolis Eagles Basketball program was started sixteen years ago by High School coach Mel Butler. Indy EBC provides an opportunity for young males between 14-18 to earn an athletic scholarship by showcasing their talents to college coaches and scouting services. The roster is comprised of players from Indianapolis and its surrounding areas.
Our programs strength is attributed to our coaches who are vested members of their community and proud to be either active or retired military servicemen. Our coach's military background and the core tenets that they bring have proven to be a valuable tool when working with young men today. Indy EBC was started to help young males develop the skills required to compete successfully for their high schools and prepare them "academically and athletically" for the opportunity to play in college at the level their talent will allow them. We accomplish this with continuous work on skills and fundamentals, with emphasis on the strategic and mental aspect of the game. Our program is committed to a “higher purpose” beyond athletics – seeking to impact the hearts and lives of young men, particularly those young men considered “at risk”. To this end we have a grade requirement that we emphasize with our young men. We supply the resources to help them succeed, such as the use of tutors and educators that volunteer or are hired through our program.
